This year, A. + E. Fischer-Chemie Wiesbaden is once again donating €10,000 to a charitable cause. The 2023 Christmas donation goes to Silberstreifen – aktiv gegen Altersarmut in Wiesbaden e.V., an association founded in 2010 with the aim of alleviating the effects of old-age poverty and supporting the social and cultural participation of those affected. We chose this organization because it provides direct support to people here in Wiesbaden.
Since its inception, the association has worked closely with the Caritas Association Wiesbaden, the Diakonisches Werk Wiesbaden, and the City’s Department for Social Work. Unfortunately, an increasing number of elderly people are facing acute financial hardship and must manage with very limited means. Often, this involves essential needs such as replacing kitchen appliances like refrigerators or stoves, purchasing a new bed, or covering travel costs to attend family gatherings.
According to its own figures, Silberstreifen – aktiv gegen Altersarmut in Wiesbaden e.V. has already helped alleviate the most urgent consequences of poverty in more than 3,000 cases. The non-profit organization is funded exclusively through donations and contributions. “Together with our partner organizations, we have structured our work in such a way that no administrative costs are incurred. Every euro donated goes directly to people in old age who urgently depend on our solidarity,” says Johannes Weber.
